USD 303 Board of Education Approves Back to School Plan
August 11, 2020
At their regular August Board Meeting, the USD 303 Board Members had a strong conversation concerning the Back to School Plan that had been worked on and developed with the help of parents, patrons, staff, and legal council. There were many concerns expressed about the different concepts of the plan, and how the plan was going to be implemented. Ultimately, as a Board of Education, we want 100% of our students in the classroom receiving face to face instruction for 100% of our scheduled school days. Our hope is this plan will help ensure the achievement of this goal. It is also important to understand that all members of the USD 303 Board of Education and Superintendent Reinhardt have a responsibility to protect the investment our taxpayers make in our educational system. This duty requires the Board and Superintendent Reinhardt to protect the system from lawsuits which requires us to make unpopular decisions that quite frankly we don't like either. Unfortunately, this is one of those times.
It is important to understand that the plan we developed is flexible, and will change as we move through the school year. We know that masks are a big part of the concern parents and students have. Like you, we don't like wearing masks either and don't want to wear them, but if we are going to reach our ultimate goal, right now, we have to wear masks. We understand that this will be an adjustment for everyone, and we will work with our students as they get comfortable in their masks. We ask that you help us in this process so we can do all we can to keep 100% of our students in our classrooms 100% of the time.
Below, you will find the approved plan, an overview slideshow of the plan, and a video of Mr. Reinhardt sharing about the plan. If you have additional concerns or questions, please reach out to Mr. Reinhardt or Mr. Flax.
